What do the club membership fees cover?

The club membership fees (competitive/travel player) cover the following:

  • VBC Membership  & Administrative Fees
  • Tournament Entry Fees
    • Spike/Super Spike, Super Volley, Super Series, Regionals, Provincials and Nationals.
  • Dedicated Coaching Staff
  • Gym Rental (Practice Facility)
  • Coach's Out-of-Town Hotel Cost
  • Tournament Lunch/Snacks
  • 1 Tournament *Hotel Cost for Athletes
    • A team will have a ~$1000.00 budget allocated for a hotel stay which can be used for out-of-town tournament which usually runs for 2 days over the weekend (e.g. travel to the Island or Okanagan or Fraser Valley)
    • As a team, athletes may opt to use this budget for use towards other expenses (e.g. Nationals in Edmonton or use for team building activities)
  • Athlete's Uniform
    • Practice T-shirt, Warm-Up Shirt, Hoodie and Official Uniform

The club fees DOES NOT cover the following:

  • Other Travel & Accommodations Costs (Hotels, Gas, Insurance, Parking, etc.)
    • Only 1 hotel cost is covered as stated above. All other travel costs are not covered. As a team, we will come up with a budget and the team share the cost
  • Spectator Fees (tournament venue entry fee, parking fees, etc.)
  • Other clothing (e.g. socks, bag packs, etc.)

Do you have "Practice Only Player" option?

Yes. The practice only players are players that do not want to commit to the full club volleyball experience. There will be a small number of offers for a place at a travel team practice for these players. They will be able to attend all practices, receive the same technical instruction, and participate fully in the practices of a travel team in their age group – they will not attend any of the tournaments or receive the full uniform package. If we have a large number of players that desire to participate as a practice only player, we will hold these practices separate from the club travel teams.

All club members (travel teams and practice only) will need to attend tryouts.

We need to ensure that all participants are registered and we need a good count of the total number of players to properly plan for the right number of coaches.

Practice Only Players membership fee cost is standard membership fee + 25% of membership fee (e.g. If membership fee is $500.00, then cost will be: $500 + ($500*25%) = $625.00).

This option allows players/athletes who do not make a club team. This will provide the player/athlete an opportunity to train (just as hard as club player) and play volleyball.

How long is the club season for?

The season runs from mid-November through May for most teams.

Phoenix Volleyball Club athletes will be expected to make a commitment to attend practices and competition as scheduled by the coaching staff. Practice and competition schedules for the season will be sent to each participant. It is hoped that by having advanced information of the schedule that conflicts can be kept to a minimum.

Your support in this area will make the program more beneficial for your child and will be important to the team's improvement.

While each team may have a different schedule, each participant will practice at least two times per week (usually in the evening during the week or once on the weekend). Competitions are always on the weekend and will take place about two or three times per month.
